SS26 is engineered across all jersey weights, from heavyweight loopback to lightweight rib. Defined by considered colour, vintage wash treatments, and single stitch finishes. New palette, new textures, new silhouettes.The three seasonal colourways this season reflect the tones of spring and summer.
- Mist is a soft, hazy wash that fades and deepens with every wear, the kind of colour that looks more considered the older it gets.
- Midnight Navy is a rich, settled deep blue, available as a clean solid across the fleece and jersey styles.
- Canary Yellow arrives with a pigment spray finish, bringing a warmth to the range that reads differently across each fabric and silhouette it sits on.
Each colour has been applied with the weight and texture of the garment in mind, so the same palette behaves differently whether it is sitting on a lightweight rib, a waffle jersey, or a 390GSM loopback fleece.
Alongside the new palette, SS26 introduces a series of shapes that have not featured in Initial before. The Waffle Henley, the Grandad Collar Sweatshirt, the Waffle Shorts, the Initial Tape Pant, the Crossbody Bag, the Jersey Cap, and a Long Sleeve Rib T-Shirt all arrive this season. New shapes, same principle.
Jersey Tops
The Core Tees and New Shapes
The Initial jersey tops are built around a 100% cotton 140GSM base, finished with the details the line is known for. A rib collar, blind stitch to the hem and cuffs, signature metal bar, Initial embroidery at the centre back neckline. The Boxy T-Shirt arrives in Canary Yellow with a pigment spray finish. The Oversized T-Shirt and Tank come through in Mist with a fade-out wash, designed to soften and deepen further with every wear. That fading is intentional. It is part of what the colour is.
Two new shapes join the jersey category this season. The Waffle Henley is built on a midweight, super-soft waffle jersey and introduces a grandad collar to the Initial range for the first time one button exposed at the top, three more concealed within the placket. Relaxed and tactile, it sits slightly apart from a standard tee without asking to be treated differently. The Long Sleeve Rib T-Shirt works in a similar register a lightweight 115GSM rib fabric, slightly boxier and wider in the body, with seams sewn in framilon tape to keep the structure over time. Both carry the signature metal bar and centre back embroidery.
Hoodies and Sweaters
The Initial fleece range runs across two fits. The Boxy is the original, relaxed but not oversized, clean shoulder, straight body. The Oversized 2.0 is the same silhouette used across the Owners Club range, broader and more voluminous for those who want more room. Both fits are available in hoodies and sweaters this season, all built from 100% cotton 390GSM with double layer hoods, kangaroo pockets, and minimal twin needle construction throughout.
The Canary Yellow pieces carry a pigment spray finish across the Boxy Zip and the Oversized 2.0 Hoodie. The Mist washes across the Boxy Hoodie and Oversized 2.0 Sweater will continue to fade with wear, consistent with the jersey pieces. This season's hoodies use a lighter-feel fabric, so if you have bought Initial hoodies before and like a closer fit, size down.
The Boxy Zip Hoodie features an antique silver M4 double-ended zip with a kissing welt finish, hardware that sits quietly against the garment but rewards a closer look. New for SS26, the Grandad Collar Sweatshirt brings the collar detail from the Waffle Henley into the fleece category.
Built in Jet Black with a rib grandad collar and placket, one button exposed and two concealed, a subtle formality that changes the read of the piece without overcomplicating it. Due to the weight of the black fabric it runs slightly small, so size up for a more relaxed fit.
Bottoms
Sweatpants, Initial Tape Pant and Waffle Shorts
The Initial Sweatpant returns unchanged in fit, straight leg, pintucks to the front and back legs, patch pockets at the back, side split at the hem, signature metal bar on the side pocket. If you know the fit from previous seasons, nothing has changed.
The Wide Leg Cuff Sweatpant takes a different approach with the Oversized 2.0 silhouette and an elasticated cuff at the hem. It did not size down in production, so it runs generously.
New for SS26, the Initial Tape Pant is a new silhouette built on the foundation of the Slack Pant. A wide leg woven pant in 75% polyester, 20% viscose, 5% elastane, cut to be the most comfortable everyday trouser in the range.
The elasticated waistband carries Initial intarsia artwork within the tape, a detail that earns its place the longer you wear it. Side seam pockets, faux welt back pocket, blind stitching to the hem. Do not iron the waistband tape.
The Waffle Shorts are new to Initial this season. Built from 100% cotton 175GSM waffle jersey with an elasticated drawcord waistband, side seam pockets, and Initial embroidery on the front leg. The Black and Midnight Navy colourways are over-dyed, giving the waffle texture a depth that a standard solid does not quite achieve. Mist comes in the fade-out wash.
Shirts
The Initial Short Sleeve Shirt is built from a 71% cotton, 29% nylon woven. The nylon gives the fabric an ease and movement that a pure cotton shirt does not have,it sits off the body rather than against it.
Cut for a relaxed fit and designed to be worn untucked, with a curved hem, standard collar with half moon detail, and hidden plastic buttons in the front placket. Initial embroidery at the centre back neckline. Wear it open over a tee or as the top layer. It reads both ways.
Accessories
Initial Jersey Cap & Cross body bags
New to Initial this season. A 5-panel unstructured trucker in 100% cotton jersey with a coastal wash and branded Initial snapback fastening. Relaxed and easy, consistent with the rest of the line. Wipe clean only.
The Crossbody Bag is made from the same cotton-nylon woven as the shirt, making the pairing intentional rather than incidental. Branded YKK double-ended zip to the main opening, internal back wall zip pocket, front wall slip pocket, brushed silver ski lock buckle, and an adjustable webbing strap. Wipe clean only.
