247 athlete: ALFIE MANTHORPE
For Alfie, success comes down to ticking boxes day in, day out. Whether it's training-related or just life in general, consistency is everything. "If you want to change, you've got to focus on the boring parts".
WHO IS ALFIE MANTHORPE
Alfie Manthorpe is the kind of athlete who lives by one rule, "consistently do the boring things." This mindset has taken him from local races to representing Great Britain on the international stage.
The Team GB distance runner has built an impressive track record with personal bests of 13:46 in the 5K, 28:12 in the 10K and an unofficial 62:24 half marathon.
Times he's determined to smash even further.
Alfie's approach is all about working hard and getting everything done, regardless of how he feels. With high volume training and a relentless focus on performance, he's dialed in on optimizing fitness to the clock.
"I'm kind of the only runner whose main focus is purely performance,"
While teammates like Hercules Nicolaou and Russ Cook tackle the ultra-endurance side, and Jake Dearden a Hyrox Master and esteamed marathon runner, Alfie sits firmly in the pure distance running lane.
Fine-tuning every detail to shave seconds off the clock.
PERFORMANCE ACTIVEWEAR & RACE DAY ESSENTIALS
Running twice a day means Alfie needs an abundance of kit, and 247's performance range delivers. His most-used pieces are the race vests—particularly the Location vests (the LA, Manchester, or the white anniversary edition with purple detailing) and the DNA vests he's raced in countless times.
For bottoms, he rotates through:
When the temperature drops, Alfie chooses layers, with the waterproof jacket, DNA base layers, and the new quarter zips to keep warm underneath.
Race Day essentials:
For race day, Alfie keeps it minimal
- seamless or Location half tights paired with a DNA or Location singlet.
"I try to be as light as possible on race day," Alfie says. "But in training, I'll wear a few more layers, arm sleeves or base layers to adapt to different conditions."
"I always like to have my phone in my back pocket with the zip or extra gels in there".

ALFIE MANTHORPE: RECOVERY
All of Alfies training philosophies are about working hard ad getting everything done regardless of how you feel, running 200km per week is no expection to this, but to do this needs the recovery strategy to match this ethos.
Sleep: The Essential
"Your body does its rebuilding when you rest and fuel properly."
Nutrition: Recovery the body:
"Whether it's a protein shake, carb gels, or a balanced meal, Alfie ensures his body has what it needs to recover and be ready for the next session.
"It's about fueling all the way through, but especially after training, I try to get carbs and protein in as soon as possible."
Circulation and Soft Tissue Work
"Running 200km a week takes a toll on the muscles, tendons, and joints. To stay healthy and mobile, Alfie incorporates circulation work and soft tissue maintenance into his routine. Foam rolling, stretching, and targeted mobility work help flush out lactic acid, reduce muscle tightness, and prevent injuries.."
247 Recovery Slides
"I'm always wearing them around the house. They're a lot better than walking around barefoot, extremely comfortable, almost like having a running shoe on whilst still being breathable."
THE 247 TEAM:
Alfie brings a unique perspective to TEAM 247. While the roster features ultra-endurance legends and Hyrox champions, Alfie represents the pure performance runner—the guy chasing PBs and obsessing over every split. "I think it's good that I can give different feedback on the clothes," he says. "A lot of people who buy 247 are in the hybrid space at an amateur level, so hopefully I add some extra credibility and inspire more performance runners."
At the end of the day, Alfie's philosophy is simple, "keep doing the boring things, stay consistent, and the results will follow".
With 247 gear supporting every mile, he's ready to keep pushing those faster times over and over.
